A fire blanket is a safety device designed to extinguish incipient (starting) fires. It consists of a sheet of fire retardant material which is placed over a fire in order to smother it.
Fire blankets are made out of fire resistant fabric and are used to smother flames caused by cooking or clothing fires.
Ideally located in the kitchen (away from the stove), and preferably between the stove and the kitchen exit, once used on a fire they should be replaced.
